The Américas River Oaks restaurant, which was widely considered to be among the best in Houston, has recently shut down.
The restaurant informed its patrons that it would be closing down immediately.
This well-known restaurant serving South American cuisine will be missed. We are sorry to see them go, but we are able to empathize with the circumstances that led them to make this choice.
About
A vibrant Latino-American dining experience, Américas is owned and operated by Churrascos Restaurant Group. The restaurant serves the cuisine of a number of different countries located in Latin America; however, it focuses primarily on the cuisine of Mexico and Argentina.
The restaurant offers a wide selection of mouthwatering meals, including crispy Yucatán white shrimp tacos served on flour tortillas with black bean purée and pickled red onions, corn tamales topped with roasted poblano crema and cotija cheese, and grilled empanadas stuffed with smoked chicken, corn, black beans, sweet peppers, and onions.
In addition, there is a selection of grilled meats on the menu, which are prepared over an open flame. Depending on the kind of meat that is used in each dish, a sauce such as chimichurri or salsa Criolla may be served alongside it.
In addition to the food, Américas provides a wide selection of different beverages. These include the national drinks of Mexico and Peru, the margarita and pisco sour, respectively, as well as the wines of Argentina and Chile.

The accessibility of Americas as a whole is excellent, and there are great facilities for wheelchair users. There are no major problems that would significantly change how the meal is prepared or experienced. Only an issue with crowds during peak eating hours or weekend evenings would be a possibility at this restaurant, and even then, it would be very uncommon.
