On top, I like to add a little of the barbecue rub that I used to season the pork originally. You can’t really overcook pork since it lacks taste naturally, so a little additional rub doesn’t harm!

How to make pulled pork sliders

It’s time to create your sliders when the pork has been warmed.

1. The buns

Begin with slider buns or Hawaiian rolls. For this recipe, I used Kings Hawaiian Sweet Rolls.

Don’t cut the rolls up; instead, leave them as one large slab. To make the top and bottom buns, cut the rolls in half horizontally across the center using a serrated knife.

After slicing your Hawaiian rolls in half, remove the top buns and put them aside.

Top the bottom buns with a thin coating of your preferred barbecue sauce. on prevent the sauce from becoming too thick, I apply it on the buns using a little basting brush.

2. Add the filling

Add a layer of pulled pork to the bottom buns after they’ve been covered with sauce. Because the pork is the star of the show in this dish, pack it on!

After that, you’ll add some shredded cabbage. You may use ready-made coleslaw packets from the supermarket; they generally include carrot, which adds a lovely taste and crunch; just leave off the dressing.

Now it’s time to add some cheese since cheese makes everything great! You may use whatever sort of cheese you have on hand, but I like Swiss cheese.

When adding your pieces of cheese, make sure the edges of the slices overlap slightly. This will guarantee that each slider has an appropriate cheese-to-pork ratio.

3. The topping

Replace the top buns and brush them with melted butter, then sprinkle with your preferred bagel spice. If you don’t have bagel spice on hand, just sprinkle on some sesame seeds or leave them plain.

For this dish, I used PS Seasoning Open Sesame. It’s made using onion, garlic, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, and a pinch of salt. I believe it elevates slider and burger buns beyond the standard sesame seed topping.

4. Fire up the smoker

You are now ready to prepare your sliders. Because the pulled pork has already been cooked and reheated, all that remains is to melt the cheese and toast the slider buns. You can cook them in the oven if you don’t want to use the smoker, but I believe the smoker provides an additional depth of smokey flavor that can’t be surpassed.

I smoked them for about 30 minutes on my Camp Chef Woodwind 24 at 300F. When the tops of the buns get golden brown and the cheese melts, they’re ready to eat.

You may serve the sliders right away when they’ve finished cooking.
